Happy Birthday to you!!

Logan is my now TWO little cousin. I’m sure y’all have seen is adorable face somewhere on this blog over the last two years, but these are my favorite so far! Who said terrible twos were the worst.  Logan looked at me, listened to me, and while yes he was all over the place and made me want to faint from heat exhaustion, these pictures were A LOT easier than our last photo shoot at Christmas.  Rebecca, his mom got that adorable banner you see above from etsy that Logan immediately wanted to tear up – he did get the monkey face but we managed to put it back together.  I thought it would be fun to show this little guy over the years.  Kurt and Becca – I can’t believe how big your baby man is getting — y’all are wonderful parents therefor have some more kids!  thanks!!

disclaimer** I love my little cousin Callen just as much as Logan but I didn’t get this bright idea a few months back in May when Callen turned two. So that means we need to do another photo shoot of Callen so he can have his very own Happy Birthday post as well. Please still love me.

Logan in the belly. So he’s negative 7 months old here right? or does that make since? you get it.

from his newborn pictures

Three months old — his lips…i just love em.

I guess I’m missing a few months – but this is Logan at 1 year!

This was Christmas – soooo like a year and a half? right?

and now TWO!! such a big boy!

my favorite.

I love everything about this family. From their Italian roots, their big family get togethers and their love for the Cubs, they welcomed me in years ago after I had met Mel at college.  Mel wanted some family pictures since it had been years since they had any taken, and they especially needed an updated one with new members – 2 husbands and 2 kids – so we were able to find a date and set it up.  I had about 20 minutes for the family – it was HOT and sticky and really buggie — gotta love the Texas humidity, but before Jeff (Papa Ferro) split :) I was able to get some family ones all together!  Fortunately, it won’t be too long until I get them all in front of the camera again since Nick is getting married! Get ready for lots more pics guys – you especially Nick!

The Whole Clan

The original Clan – The Ferros

Anthony, Kathleen, Jeff, Melissa, Nick, Andrea

The two who started it all

Andrea and Allan’s adorable boys, Aidan and Maddox

a mom and her girls.

i love the bond grandparents have with their grandbabies

and of course – Chase and Mel.  All the others jetted off because it was seriously hot – like sitting in a sauna – like sticking your head down a steam pipe.  HOT!

But not for Mel and Chase -the picture taking King and Queen!!

i love this one.

Mel’s newest Tattoo. She’s had it awhile but I hadn’t taken any pictures of it yet. It’s beautiful and showcases so much of what Mel believes.

love.

Thank you all for enduring the heat and letting me capture y’alls beautiful family.

I just really can’t believe how fast time is flying by. Karissa is already planning his 1 year birthday party, he’s crawling, pulling up, shaking his head no no no, laughing (although he’s a touch crowd), and he’s literally the most adorable thing I have ever seen.  Grady is NINE months and from the very beginning I have said that I couldn’t wait for this time. It’s my favorite baby age. They are fun and expressive, they laugh and smile and they sit still – I was wrong on that one. Grady won’t stay in a single place and gets a little huffy if you try to make him.  Karissa and I have tried to take montly pictures of him but we weren’t so good since 6 months — but I had to make sure to get this age. We shot for about 10 minutes right outside my apartment door while my Mom and I were watching him.  I have to say to all you Moms out there – my mom was the BEST at acting a fool behind me to get Grady’s attention. He loves his Grammy and it shows in these pictures.

Please note all of Grady’s different expressions. Never a dull face  or moment with this one.

this one is my favorite.

We were saying “Yay Grady” – he usually claps for himself if we say that!

psh trying to appear to be shy.

the many faces of Grady – here is just a few.

he has the bluest of blue eyes.

and last his I’m gonna eat you face. or you’re kinda dumb face.

Gruene is one of my favorite places to visit every summer. I feel a rush of summer, water, & sunscreen when I drive over the bridge into Gruene and I feel so fortunate that it’s only a short distance from Austin.  Gruene is also a special place for Samara and Jett who chose to have their engagements taken here. One specific landmark – Gruene Hall. Home to thousands of country artists that have graced their stage from George Straight to Roger Creager and many more. Their relationship grew within these walls so it only seemed fitting we document their love in the same place.

I’m so excited for y’alls wedding this fall and I can’t wait to see how fabulous Samara is going to look in her wedding gown!

When I first met this little man, he looked up at me and said “We going to the river?” I immediately looked at his mom thinking, did he seriously just say that? He wasn’t even two, but he knew that we were taking pictures and that he was going to get to see the river.  Smartest 2 year old ever. And seriously so cute with his red hair and adorable smile.  Oliver’s shoot was one of my favorites of the year and I can’t believe I never blogged it. Last fall was just really busy with weddings and I just never posted it, but I was reminded of Oliver because of the talks with his soon-to-be aunt Taylor for their upcoming wedding.  So it’s never to late to blog – especially Oliver.

he looks just like a Gunn here.

pretty sure he could have done this all day long but we quickly reminded him that the river was next!

He heard a train in the distance, and here he is trying to listen closely like his Mom said.

**Boudoir is so coming back –  If you are a bride of mine and would like this boudoir experience for your husband-to-be please please let me know!  They are among some of my favorite things to shoot. I promise to make you feel comfortable and beautiful during the process!

Jen is a daring and confident woman, with beautiful blue eyes and a charm about her.  When we decided to shoot these boudoir pictures for her husband to be, I happily obliged knowing that Jen would radiate beauty in front of my camera.  With a beautiful master bedroom and gorgeous view to work with, I was ecstatic that Jen was up for anything and ready to make such a special gift to give to her husband in Maui at their wedding. Thank you Jen for allowing me to share some of your session….your beauty is not only on the outside!

To view more of Jen’s Boudoir session type in the password BOUDOIR in the blog post underneath.

I remember the day Tommy told me about Melissa – He said “She goes by Mo – she’s tall, has really big blue doe eyes and is a kindergarten teacher.” I knew he really liked her, and from what I heard they spent a lot of time together. I was excited for my next trip up to Dallas so I could meet this doe eyed girl that had stolen the attention of my friend.  Of course I loved her and thought she was perfect for Tommy. They made a wonderful match, both addicted to candy, both in love with Tommy’s dog Hank, and both being 100 percent in love with one another and ready to start a life together. Last month they started that life together and it was such a special moment, watching two people become one – and like Tommy said in his toast to his new wife – “Mo isn’t my better half – she is my best half and I will love her always.”

I was a guest at their wedding, but I was lucky enough to take their engagements in Tommy’s home town of La Grange – down by the Colorado river.  Here are a few of my favorites.

This is what I love about photography – finding the most beautiful light possible to make the person I’m shooting stand out, look beautiful and really shine naturally.  Caitlin is about to graduate in just a few days from my home town and moving on to UT here in Austin!!  We took her pictures at a good friend of mines farm just outside of La Grange.  Thanks Denise – I always LOVE shooting on your land!!  At least this time I didn’t get my car stuck nor did a step on a snake – thank goodness!!

I am so happy to finally get to show these off.  These are one of my favorite bridal sessions ever and it just so happens to be of a very good friend. Melissa is the new bride of an old friend from my hometown and Bryan’s best friend, Tommy. They were married this past weekend in her hometown of Longview and I was a guest.  Yes, you heard correctly – a guest, I didn’t even bring along my professional camera.  And honestly it was kinda hard to sit back and enjoy the show, but I did and I’m incredibly honored that I was a part of it!

Tommy and Mo I love y’all both!  Have a wonderful time in Jamaica!

I want to say thank you to Nita Tiemann for allowing us to use their beautiful family farm in La Grange and Kaywin Kubesch of The Flower Company for making her a beautiful bouquet.

After spending some days in California last week I saw first hand their amazing light, but I’d venture to guess that our Texas light can rival their Cali light any day.

and I’ll end with my favorite.
