Gruene is one of my favorite places to visit every summer. I feel a rush of summer, water, & sunscreen when I drive over the bridge into Gruene and I feel so fortunate that it’s only a short distance from Austin. Gruene is also a special place for Samara and Jett who chose to have their engagements taken here. One specific landmark – Gruene Hall. Home to thousands of country artists that have graced their stage from George Straight to Roger Creager and many more. Their relationship grew within these walls so it only seemed fitting we document their love in the same place.
I’m so excited for y’alls wedding this fall and I can’t wait to see how fabulous Samara is going to look in her wedding gown!

I remember the day Tommy told me about Melissa – He said “She goes by Mo – she’s tall, has really big blue doe eyes and is a kindergarten teacher.” I knew he really liked her, and from what I heard they spent a lot of time together. I was excited for my next trip up to Dallas so I could meet this doe eyed girl that had stolen the attention of my friend. Of course I loved her and thought she was perfect for Tommy. They made a wonderful match, both addicted to candy, both in love with Tommy’s dog Hank, and both being 100 percent in love with one another and ready to start a life together. Last month they started that life together and it was such a special moment, watching two people become one – and like Tommy said in his toast to his new wife – “Mo isn’t my better half – she is my best half and I will love her always.”
I was a guest at their wedding, but I was lucky enough to take their engagements in Tommy’s home town of La Grange – down by the Colorado river. Here are a few of my favorites.

It’s been a really busy couple of weeks. I just made my way back to my very humid home after spending some time in California. The friends I took away and the knowledge I now have from the conference definitely made it worth my trip and now my many hours of catching up. Hopefully I’ll be putting up a post from Escalate soon – but first…
Margaret and Derrick. I feel so lucky that I get to spend time with really amazing and astonishing people. Being invited to share in the excitement with them at one of the most important times in their life is truly flattering. These two really have it. The love to last a lifetime. If I could take one thing away from meeting these two it would kindness. Derrick’s kindness is in his eyes, the way you know he is listening when you speak. Hearing what you say and in Margaret’s case – loving what she says. Margaret’s kindness is shown in her voice and in her smile. I’m sure that is why she makes a great teacher. Being kind should never be overlooked and definitly something I will remember when I look back on their engagement session held at Berry Springs Park.
